Meeting on I-75 interchange
To the editor:
FYI on Monday, Feb. 8, at 7 p.m., at Slater Bible Chapel, Matt Road, North Fort Myers, there will be a meeting concerning the I-75 interchange Lee County has proposed to build through the eastern border of Prairie Pines 20/20 horse park. It is now planned to be a six lane toll road which will go through a wetland area, current cost now $81 million. The next two months will be our last chance to let Lee County officials know that we do not want this road built through a conservation area horse park. In March the Lee and Charlotte County officials will meet to finalize these plans and send them to the engineers even though this road may not be built for many years costing much more than the $81 million. If you care about saving our riding areas, please attend this meeting and find out what you can do to be heard. We are hoping to have media coverage there. There are alternatives to this road that would save Prairie Pines and save Lee County taxpayers millions. Any questions you may e-mail me or call Dave Urich 850-2413.
We are losing rural Fort Myers and our horseback riding areas.
