To the editor:

The proper abbreviation or symbol to be used in the Metric System for “kilometer” is km. Please, make note about it and use it properly for a better understanding of the abhorrent Metric System or SI (Systeme International dUnites.) The following excerpt is from the math textbook “Thinking Mathematically by Prof. Robert Blitzer, page 530. Enjoy!:

A 5 K race means a race at 5 Kelvins. This is a race so cold that no one would be able to move because all the participants would be frozen solid. The proper symbol for a race five kilometers long is a 5 km race.
