Abortion a costly endeavor
To the editor:
Watched the Memorial Concert from Washington, D.C. on Sunday night. It was very well done, and did bring home the sacrifices that our troops made in the wars to which we have been engaged. But what struck us most was the references to God and His protection that was apparent in the songs that were sung, as well as at the end of the speeches. It was great to hear, but we thought a bit disingenuous as we have literally thrown God and any references to Him out of the public square. We cannot expect God to take a back seat as we go our merry way and then jump up and rescue us when we finally realize that we need His help. Israel tried that, and God let them be taken into captivity and their land be overrun by their enemies.
A country that allows 50,000,000 of its citizens to be killed in abortion clinics without a second thought, but memorializes the soldiers that died to protect us from our enemies that would take our freedom to live as we think fit, we wonder what they would think about that? They gave up their lives that we could destroy generations of people because they had audacity to become a baby in the womb of people that did not want them. Think about that. Our country is in trouble financially, Social Security and Medicare are facing shortfalls that will decrease the amount of money retirees can expect to collect. And on top of that we have an enormous debt. We face the same problems that are now plaguing Europe.Their population growth is in negative territory because they do not want to be saddled with children. But when they retire, who is there to pay the taxes that keep the government programs solvent? Every baby that is aborted costs the government much money in lost revenue. There is no free lunch. someone has to pay for all those government goodies we all enjoy.
So we remember our slain warriors, but let us also remember that unless we change our ways, we will be ending up like Europe.
