Congress needs a swift kick in the pants
To the editor:
Congress people, displaying incredible arrogance and constituency disrespect, have stepped over the line and should be removed from their positions as soon as possible.
Here are the facts: members of Congress can retire with the same pay after only one term. They don’t have to pay into Social Security, they exempted themselves from many of the laws that they themselves have passed, such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment, while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Health care Reform that has been signed into law. It’s arrogance beyond the pale and calls for a general house cleaning. We should not have an elite that believes that they are above the law and the self-serving attitude has no place in the Congress of the United States. Our complacency for too long has served to create an army of pinheads who believe that milking the American public is their right and we need to speak out for two important points. Firstly, any Congress person who won’t fight for the reversal of these, and more, outrageous perks should be on the list for dismissal. And next, we need an immediate amendment to the United States Constitution which reads: “Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the senators and/or representatives of the people.”
We need to remove the infectious sickening attitude permeating throughout Congress, and we need to start now.
