Kidney Thrift Store — end of an era
To the editor:
The volunteers of the Cape Coral Kidney Thrift Store regretfully announce the closing of our store. This closing ends a 30-plus year era, of volunteers, who have provided support to dialysis patients in Cape Coral and to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida. A few of the original volunteers who started the store are still with us and are now in their 80s and 90s. God Bless all of them for their service to our cause as well as the many volunteers who spend many hours in the store making it the best the Cape has to offer. We will all miss it!
Our store moved to the current location at 1515 Del Prado South on November 2010, from Candia Street. Unfortunately, our lease at the current location is not being renewed and we have been unable to replace our managing volunteers who are retiring.
At this time, we sincerely wish to thank our community for all of the donations and support throughout the years. We could not have done it without you! We do ask that you still bring in your donations until the middle of March so we can have the best month is sales in the history of the store.
We are still in need of donations as we would like to make this month our best. Please bring them until March 15. We also need your plastic and brown paper grocery bags.
Our final day of business will be Tuesday, March 27. All merchandise is now 50 percent off on items priced $1 and up. Items under $1.are $.25. There is still time to shop. All store fixtures are also for sale. Come see us off.
Thanks again.
