Appalled by police action in Trayvon Martin death

2 min read

To the editor:

As a Christian woman of color I am deeply saddened in how our law enforcement system has handled the Trayvon Martin case. My Jesus said there is no respect of persons except believers vs unbelievers. It brings me to tears when yet again a young man of color is killed and his life appears to be of little value. Every human is precious to my LORD. Clearly the police department was not just in their actions and nor was Mr. Zimmerman. Let’s not lose sight of the facts: Mr. Zimmerman did not have on any marking that he was with the Neighborhood Watch, he had a weapon, he was told by the 911 operator not to pursue the young man in the hooded sweat jacket. Mr. Zimmerman stalked Mr. Martin, Mr. Zimmerman was not taken to the ER for any injuries, Mr. Zimmerman shot Mr. Martin.

As a person of faith I grieve for Mr. Martin’s parents. I also grieve for the Zimmerman family in that Mr. Zimmerman should be charged with gunning this young man down in cold blood and he should receive the death penalty.

I pray that Mr. Zimmerman would come forth and do the righteous thing and admit the truth as the facts are playing out via various medias.

It is so sad that law enforcement didn’t handle this case with due diligence.
