Racism continues
To the editor:
While viewing a news article online (about what and by who is irrelevant) on one of the major news network sites, I came across what I believe to be an indicator of where the race relations in this country stand.
The article was reporting about a racial slur that had been used that involved the “F” word combined with the “N” word spelled out. Apparently only one of those words was considered offensive.
I find the “N” word much more offensive and I am white. I cannot begin to imagine what a black person feels at the sound of that word. Hearing the “F” word, I am reminded of a sexual act. With the other, I am reminded of slavery, whippings, rapes, lynchings, hate and all manners of human degradation, some of which continue to this day.
If you claim to be a member of any religion that I know of and that word is part of your vocabulary, you are more in need of religious understanding than you know. Anyone who sees the “N” word as acceptable does not deserve to live in a country like the USA “with freedom and justice for all.”
