Climate change denial
To the editor:
Those who deny that man-made climate change is a serious threat, or even real, remind me of others in the past who fought science tooth and nail to serve their special interest paymasters.
These included all those who sided with the tobacco companies in challenging studies that implicated smoking in severe respiratory diseases and numerous cancers. The jury was still out they said. There’s no definitive proof they claimed. For decades the tobacco lobby and their supporters put profit before the health of our population. Millions of our citizens and fellow human beings suffered grave illnesses and death because of the denial of science- for mere money.
Must we face a similar fate at the hands of these climate change deniers, motivated by money to protect the financial fortunes of the fossil fuel industry? Must the country, the world, and future generations be sacrificed on the altar of short-term profits? I pray not.
