Your money, your community
To the editor:
As a working mom who put four children through our schools and our local colleges I understand what it means to work hard, live on a budget and at the same time meet payroll for my small business.
I have lived here in Lee County 40 years and understand the dynamics of our economy. I want my children and grandchildren to be able to stay here and have good jobs and opportunities. Many families are struggling and we need to make sure our taxes are affordable for those living here.
We know county revenue is already expected to increase as the economy slowly improves and home values go up. We don’t need to increase taxes on citizens. We can enhance our economy by streamlining the process for small business owners to get their doors open and keep them open.
What we spend our tax dollars on is a matter of priorities and we have to remember this is the people’s money. I can tell you as your county commissioner, I will work for you. I believe we need to listen to the people and work together for our community.
