Party or patriotism?
To the editor;
The season of “Who and what I am ” has started. The entrants are beginning to fill the tabloids and media with whom and what they are. Some are not what they claim to be. The most recent is the revelation that Hillary Clinton has again not told the truth, whole or otherwise. What she has done is what she is best known for and that is to mislead her audience. This time it appears that her ancestry is not exactly what she claimed it started as. Her grandparents’ immigrants? No not plural but singular. It seems that her grandmother was born here only granddaddy made the ocean voyage. But we can overlook that can’t we? I mean it is only a little bit of misinformation but then “what difference does it make?”
If she were to have a coat of arms it would display a many headed hydra for as she keeps telling lies and half-truths, sacrificing head after head, she survives still. Truly a masterful feat of deception combined with a blind following of loyal supporters willing to trade patriotism for party success. How many heads are left on the hydra is difficult to tell. From her attempts of legal manipulation while involved in the Watergate investigations to the present questioned ancestry she has navigated the waters of suspicion, deceit and paucity of success throughout her political adventures.
And how is she perceived by these loyal liberal followers? She is the exalted queen that will keep open the faucet to ensure the continued flow of federal dollars into their various coffers. Where are the political Seeing Eye dogs when you need one? But these loyal followers are dreamers and dreams do not obey any rules.
It is being reported in the new book, “Clinton Cash,” that Hillary has taken huge amounts ( millions?) from a major player in the Ukraineand he has been allowed to trade with Iran in violation of the sanctions. If this true, how can Hillary Clinton NOT run? It would seem that she owes tons of “paybacks.” The Clinton Foundation is questionable now as to its possible uses for its funds.
Of course there will be those who are both blind and not well informed who will cling to Hillary Clinton because they have nowhere else to go.
Although President Obama has become toxic to the Democratic Party the Party still seeks to be the fine wine of success in the stomach, however, Hillary Clinton will most likely prove to be the vinegar in their soul.
The Democratic pundits flood the media with what the Republicans should change in order to be successful. Really? They are so generous as to provide assistance to their opponent. How tolerant. How liberal. How self-serving!
And why this excursion into the political shortcomings of Hillary Clinton? Is it just to lessen her chances of success in the upcoming election? No. It is to poke the Democratic Party in the ribs with the intent to have them look within their ranks to locate others that could carry their banner into the primary season. Surely they must have someone who is capable, most likely even more capable than Hillary Clinton.
The Republicans have a wide field of contenders, each with strengths and weaknesses and none with the questionable baggage that Hillary Clinton drags along with her candidacy. A similar larger field of contenders by the Democrats would serve the country well. Whereas the Republicans are presenting candidates that are “prime time” Hillary Clinton represents only “olde tyme.”
A diverse menu of political thoughts and direction serves the country better than a one trick pony. The consequences of having anyone incapable of being honest with our citizens endanger us all.
We are different. We are exceptional. We once were proud of who we were. We can be so proud, once again, if we select carefully who sits in the White House. Republican or Democrat as President is of no consequence as long as the country is served ahead of the Party.
