Independent panel needed to vet LCEC franchise issue
To the editor:
With the recent incident at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon where the mayor was not pleased with the comments made by an LCEC person and acted like a spoiled brat and walked out of the meeting, we need to stop all meetings between LCEC and the City of Cape Coral. There needs to be an independent panel named by someone that does not have any interest in Cape Coral. Maybe we need the help of the Attorney General’s office.
The city council and city manager have never liked LCEC and their only goal is to have the city have their own electric service. They will never settle for another agreement where LCEC continues to serve Cape Coral, which is in the best interest of the 160,00-plus residents living here.
The city manager needs to terminate the services of his million dollar army of consultants and let this independent panel work to come up with the best solution for the City.
