The kill zone
To the editor:
The violence and mayhem witnessed at the recent shooting in Oregon once again provides us with a very interesting piece of information. But, like similar episodes in the past, the information will be ignored or put to continued failing conclusions.
The question screams out but is ignored. And what is this question? How many of the victims of gun violence were themselves armed? Inject into those touted scenarios the antigun groups’ stand on and replace the outset of the violence in an environment where one or more intended victims were armed. The body count may be much less or it may include that of the shooter.
Gun free zones on campuses are killing zones but the administrations of these institutions believe that a law abiding and properly licensed gun permit holder all of a sudden becomes a campus terrorist when they enter the campus grounds. It is time that these bastions of learning, of education, of research prowess, use these implements of discovery and seek to protect their students. A gun free zone is the most dangerous place to be if a killer should come calling.
