Support No Labels candidates
To the editor:
No Labels is mounting a candidate for the 2016 Presidential Election. The candidate is an idea, not a human.
On Columbus Day No Labels held a convention in Manchester, NH with 1500 declared “undecided voters.”
No Labels state leaders from around the country also attended. Florida’s Congressional District 19 which includes Lee and Collier Counties were represented by two members of our local state chapter.
The “idea” is The National Strategic Agenda, which has been introduced and co-sponsored by 70 members of congress. One of the co-sponsors is Sen. Bill Nelson. We need the other representatives in our state as well.
Eight presidential candidates (Three Democrats and Five Republicans) for the 2016 race participated in the No Labels convention getting up close and personal with the undecided NH voters.
They each spoke to the four goals of the resolution for a National Strategic Agenda.
The goals are:
1) Create 25 million new jobs over the next ten years.
2) Secure Social Security & Medicare for another 75 years
3) Balance the Federal budget by 2030
4) Make America Energy secure by 2024.
Although the National Strategic Agenda is focused on big policy goals, in itself is not a policy plan. We are asking the Congress and the next president to invest in a new process for problem solving, setting goals.
Now the how:
Presidential candidates will embrace and commit, if elected, to begin working with a bipartisan group of Congressional leaders on at least one of the four goals within the first 30 days of the new administration.
Presidential candidates who publicly make this commitment will receive the No Labels Problem Solver Seal Approval. We hope to see several seals awarded.
See House Resolution 207 (H. Res. 207) and Senate Resolution 199 (S. Res. 199) calling for this new way forward.
Now Florida’s job is to send to Washington Congress members from Florida that are also willing to work towards a National Strategic Agenda with our next new president.
Goal setting and shared agendas move the process of governing along in a much more efficient and effective way. FL. No Labels is ready to help send as many elected state representatives to Washington as possible because we would like to be known as a state that can help solve the problems our nation faces.
