Prioritize our veterans
To the editor:
As a nation we need to change the priorities of helping. Millions of illegal immigrants benefit from different programs, government or private.
We are told that our government will accept and house thousands of Syrian refugees at the taxpayers’ cost.
Yet, there are those true heroes that fought and sacrificed for this nation’s freedoms who remain forgotten while suffering from mental or physical trauma attributed to the horrors of war that are lost in this shuffle. Many of those are living on the streets in homelessness.
I would hope and pray that we as a nation in 2016 will prioritize for our veterans, homeless or not, the help needed in giving them the opportunity that we give to so many illegals and refugees. We need to give our honored veterans a HAND UP and not discard the needs of those who gave and continue to give so much in the protection of our nation’s freedoms.
The priority of our nation’s veterans was to protect all of us. Let we as a nation make our veterans our priority in 2016.
“For those who fought for it, freedom has a flcaor the protected will never know.”
