We should generate solar power

1 min read

To the editor:

Florida is one of those states identified by the Union of Concerned Scientists as relying too heavily on natural gas power generation. By 2017 it is projected that Florida will generate 61 percent of its power capacity from natural gas.

The action of Florida’s legislature was encouraging but this fact seem to indicate that this is not over and we should be very mindful that there will be more pressure for fracking. Therefore we should work to encourage every municipality and county legislator in Southwest Florida to pass no-franking legislation.

Good news from Floridians for Solar Choice. We can resume obtaining signed petition to get the petition on the ballot.

With all good judgment, we should be generating solar power instead of switching from coal to natural gas.

If you have not seen Al Gore’s TED talk then I would suggest you should watch it. This might encourage you to take some action.

Thank you very much.
