The media as political cheerleaders
To the editor:
I was unaware that the media is there to instruct the citizens of the United Sates on whom they should cast their ballots for. Somehow, over the past several decades, the media has become the political advisor for the masses. At least that is what the media is assuming. It has taken Donald Trump to point out most emphatically that it is the people who make the choice on who will represent them. The media has realized that its prominence as political provider is threatened.
The symbiotic relationship between the media and the get-a-longs in Washington has been exposed in a most dramatic fashion.
This written piece goes on to state that prominent Republicans have been placed in a tight spot because of Trump’s strong showing on Super Tuesday. Well, perhaps it is in the best interest of the country if a new set of Republicans become “prominent.” The old guard is being shown up as losers, as the last election in 2012, Obama vs. Romney revealed.
This article goes on to state that Romney gave “an extraordinary and eloquent speech in which he eviscerated Trump as dangerous to America’s economy, values and safety.” And this was delivered by a most weak and ineffective loser in the last presidential election. Romney continued to further criticize Trump’s temperament, business acumen, and character.
The Old Guard trembles. The libel media trembles. The voters are unifying around Trump because he is embodying a Renaissance of political life that once was the symbol for political beliefs in this country. And the Old Guard trembles. Trump is labeled as a bully, a belligerent entity, but they fail to point out that politics is a contact endeavor. The Old Guard believes that only their cow is sacred and others are not to feed in their pasture. But Donald Trump is not a cow. Donald Trump is the bull they label as a bully and refreshing it is to have a standard bearer riding this bull in the political ring. Trump’s crowd roars with each passing election. The Old Guard trembles.
The desperation of the detractors is self-evident in the minutiae they offer up as his faults. Trump didn’t denounce David Duke quick enough or often enough. This desperation was amplified by the weak attempt of Mitch McConnell to denigrate Donald Trump’s campaign. When Trump responds to these childish efforts to halt his political charge the Old Guard calls him out on it. Do they really expect that he will give them a free pass on their goal to derail his ever growing unity among various voting blocs? Trump is uniting disaffected Republicans, Democrats and Independents and it is this that makes the Old Guard tremble. The media is exasperated because they no longer are the ringer of the bell to their version of the political class. Donald Trump is his own man, not a man that is owned. How refreshing!
And so, Donald Trump needs no advice on how to be a political winner from political losers. His political experience on the world stage is validated by his international business success which is the true measure of effectiveness. The media is being taken to the woodshed by the success of Donald Trump’s political strategy. The Old Guard has reason to tremble.
