Who’s looking out for the public?
To the editor:
It was reported in an area paper that the Senate rejected an amendment that would have set minimum space standards for airlines through the FAA. It would also require actual accommodations to be listed on airline websites.
Wouldn’t that be nice: Find out in advance if you can fit in the seat! Sen. Nelson voted “for,” and Rubio voted “against.” Is this government interference in private enterprise? Or, is it political contributions to Rubio from airlines?
How might Rubio spend that enormous campaign coffer he amassed while running for president? Might he use it to help a new job as lobbyist for airlines? Buying influence from former colleagues for his corporate sponsors?
Personally, I don’t need bigger seats with my diminutive size, but I do need bigger seats to keep larger folk from invading my space.
As a matter of fact, I need bigger government (control) to protect me from some wild and wooly free enterprises and from their lobbyists.
