All of the facts, please
To the editor:
I watched the assistant city manger compare apples to a raisin in his comparison of LCEC’s CEO salary to the salaries of other CEOs. For-profit companies limit CEO salaries for tax purposes and compensate them in other ways. He should have compared CEOs’ total compensation, instead of salaries.
LCEC’s CEO total compensation was $587,529. (From 2014 form 990)
FPL’s CEO total compensation was $14,683,608. Of which $4,525,000 was cash. (2015)
If the assistant city manager just wants to present the facts, he should present all of the facts.
I would like him to redo his presentation comparing total CEO compensation, or at least the total cash compensation, as these are all “controllable cost,” as he has put it.
I would even suggest that he compute the aggregate costs for the top executives of FPL as compared to LCEC.
