Don’t give air time to athletes who refuse to stand
To the editor:
With a few professional football players choosing to disrespect our country’s flag and anthem, why is the news media making it a big deal by focusing these over-paid fools showing their disrespect? Don’t give them the air time they are trying to get. Instead focus on the most players standing and holding their hands on their heart and many singing along.
Many of them, through their greatness at the sport, probably received a free collage education, and then were drafted into the pro leagues. The NFL has lately ruined the sport. They overlook players beating their wives, using drugs, getting arrested for whatever they do, fighting, etc., etc.
We recently saw that the Dallas Cowboys were not allowed to honor those Dallas police officers who were murdered when the players wanted to display the Dallas P.D. logo on their helmets, but allow some players to show disrespect of America.
I, for one, will try my best to boycott sponsors’ products.
Don’t want to stand? Well, if the team owners and coaches let them sit on the bench during the game.
Most of all, don’t give them the air time! Many will say, “It’s their right to protest.” Well, it would be the right to ignore their protest and bench them!
