Trying to combat ignorance with ignorance
To the editor:
How sad these millionaires like Colin Kaepernick and his followers chose to disrespect those of all colors who fought and died for our freedoms throughout the years by acting in a forum that pays their salaries in talking about oppression.
Those of us who truly put our lives on the line in fighting oppression started out making $78.50 a month or less, for you Colin.
Although protected by the First Amendment’s “Freedom of Speech,” his actions are no different then David Duke’s KKK’s actions in hiding behind this amendment to incite hate.
I would be just as upset if the KKK professed their ignorance in this same type public forum.
Ignorance cannot be combated with more ignorance by acting in the same manner.
Your actions will not change, but I would hope that the NFL owners will take a stand in not allowing these insidious acts to occur in this forum in the future.
Maybe it is time for sponsors to withdrawal, and the rest of us to turn off our TVs and refuse to buy tickets if these disrespectful acts continue.
Colin, take your money and put it toward the cause of helping those in need instead of disrespecting the lives of our true American heroes that gave you that right.
