Vote Kuckel, District 6
To the editor:
It’s time we focused on our local elections, and that means voting for Jane Kuckel – again! Jane is running for the Lee County School Board district 6 at-large seat. A lot of people ask, well didn’t she win in the August primary? The answer is yes – and no. Jane won 43 percent of the vote in a 4-person race. An amazing statistic and a tribute to how highly she is thought of. But she needed 50 percent of the vote for there not to be a run-off with the second place finisher who only got 26 percent.
That means the November election is very important for Jane and everyone in Lee County who can vote for her. Jane Kuckel is one of the most qualified candidates I have ever seen. She was on the school board for 12 years, and during that time Lee County schools were on the rise in both academics and stature. After she retired in 2012, things went downhill. So this year, she was urged to run by parents and community leaders. Besides her experience as a school board member, she was a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent for schools, including in Lee County. And Jane Kuckel is a truly fine person. Lee County parents and children need her, and so do we property owners for increased property values.
The choice is so clear between Jane and her opponent. Please don’t forget to vote for Jane Kuckel for Lee County school board on Nov. 8.
