Wealth and responsibility
To the editor:
Great wealth absolutely and intrinsically carries great responsibility, regardless of whether the holders of such wealth choose to acknowledge such or not. They are, of course, completely and totally foolish not to do so – But in this era, they are accustomed to look only to the next 90 days, utterly blind to the immediate, let alone to the long-term future.
However, in the long term, maximum sustainable prosperity comes only when everyone in the canoe who possibly can has his back to an oar!!! To “make it so,” that is the responsibility of the steersman – The guy with the steers-bucks!!! He must be somehow made to understand that this is to his own advantage, but to see such a fact and then to act on that realization requires something between the ears other than short-term greed!!! To start, it requires insight!!! Some mental stability helps!!! – These are apparently in short supply these days.
