Scammers hitting where it hurts

1 min read

To the editor:

I received a phone call from an unknown number. The connection was very bad. The caller claimed to be my granddaughter. It sounded like her but very nasal sounding. The caller claimed she had been in a car accident, that another woman hit her and broke her nose. She told me she got arrested for DUI because she had had a drink before the accident. My wife told her we couldn’t help and whoever it was cut the connection. We called my daughter who in turn called our granddaughter. She is not in jail but at work. We also spoke with her. We realized it was a scam we heard about some months ago. Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone to be careful of these calls.

My wife reported it to CCPD and they thanked her for the info.
