What’s the hold up?
To the editor:
Doe Congress ever work? I have to ask that question because the news media daily (true & faux) report that both Houses are working on the healthcare bill. Are they in a meeting all day, every day discussing just this one bill? It seems that it might be possible for both parties, in both Houses, to handle more than one thing at a time. If they need instructions on how to do this, let them speak with a mother who has a baby in the house.
We hear from the Democratic side that they will not vote on any Republican bill. They want to protect the middle class. I guess that there aren’t any wealthy folks in their party.
And the Republicans have five holdouts because they support one issue or another. It seems reasonable that the bill can be passed and amended as they deal with problems. A bill of this complexity, well, is complex. Get the main foundation started and begin implementation. See what needs to added or tweaked. But get a move on!
