Next month’s roster of activities at North Fort Myers Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
ADULTS
– Books and Bites
10:30 a.m., Monday, May 3
Join our monthly social hour! We will discuss any books in any format, or movies that have piqued your interest. Whether you give it a rant or a rave it will be fun to talk about. We provide the coffee and refreshments, you provide your enthusiasm. Registration is requested.
– The Miss Marple Monthly Knitters
2 p.m., Tuesdays, May 4, 18
These sessions are for knitters and crocheters of all levels. You are invited to visit and share project and technique ideas. Registration is requested.
– Book Discussion: Tom Brokaw’s “Boom! Voices of the Sixties”
2 p.m., Thursday, May 20
Journalist Tom Brokaw takes us on a journey through a defining era in American history. Reflections of both famous and ordinary people explore how the nation was affected by the events of the Sixties, with consequences continuing today. Registration is requested.
– Chess Challenge
4:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 25
Chess players of all ages and abilities (basic skills needed) are welcome. Bring your own board, if preferred. Meet others who share your hobby.
FAMILY
– Family Storytime
10:30 a.m., Wednesdays, May 5, 12
This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.
CHILDREN
– Under the Sea Crafts
4:30 p.m., Monday, May 10
Help decorate the library meeting room with sea life art for our “Make a Splash” themed Summer Reading program. Design colorful fish, coral, and sea life of all kinds to give our room an “under the sea” look. Return in June for summer reading program events and enjoy your artwork! For ages 6 and up. Registration is requested.
– Kids Read Down Fines
2 -3 p.m., Saturday, May 15
Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading during the allotted time in the designated area of the library. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only.
