Civic presents its Community Service Awards
A North Fort Myers Living magazine feature
On Jan. 20, Civic held our second annual Community Service Awards ceremony at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center.
The Tom Cronin award went to “Mama Lu” Lucia Bonsanto.
The Cheryl Diamond Award, given to the “Woman of the Year,” went to Billi Jo Daggett, owner of Victory Lane restaurant.
The Pioneer Award, given to someone who has devoted a lifetime to serving the community, went to Leroy Nottingham
Civic also gave four Community Service medals out.
The honorees were William Barnes, president of Ellsworth Heating & Cooling for his Christmas in July giveaways; Scott Friga for throwing a party for parents waiting for their kids at school; Katie Johnson for her generous donations to three local non-profit organizations, including the civic association; and Wendy Murray, who is juggling two leadership roles as executive director at the Chamber of Commerce and president of the North Fort Myers Rotary.
The North Fort Myers Civic Association received Best Civic Organization of North Fort Myers 2021 with this award presented to the organization at the annual Best of North Fort Myers awards ceremony. The “readers choice” award is presented by the North Fort Myers Neighbor.
The 2022 Wiffle Ball Bash will be on April 2 and then a new event, the Clash of the Irons golf tournament ,will be held on May 14.
Lee County has cancelled the Spring Fling. We are planning and Old Fashion 4th of July at the Recreation Center. Please look at our web site for details on our events. www.NFMCivic.com.
By the time you read this we will have had our annual meeting and filled the three seats up for election.
The next meeting will be on March 8 at 6:30 pm at NFM Recreation Center.
