Grace Community Center Golf Tournament to tee off Saturday for those in need
Grace Community Center will host a golf tournament on Saturday, April 14, at Palmetto Pine Country Club in Cape Coral. Shotgun is at 8:30 a.m.
Sponsors and golfers are being sought for this annual fund-raising event. Proceeds will benefit the Grace Community Center and its ministries that offer reduced-fee medical care, automotive care, vocational training, meals-on-wheels, an after school program for at-risk youth, a food bank, GED training, recovery programs, parenting classes and a computer lab.
“When we started this annual fund raiser five years ago, we did not realize how successful it would be. In the past four years, we have raised more than $30,000 for Grace Community Center to support its more than 50 programs and ministries,” said Debby Dukes, event chairperson. “We have had 57-122 golfers play at each of our events. The golfers range from those with single digit handicaps to those that have never swung a club before. This tournament is a scramble with a $10,000 Hole-in-One and a $5,000 putting contest. There will also be prizes for the longest drive and closest-to-pin for both men and women.”
“This fund-raising event is all about the Grace Community Center and the fun of the day,” said Teri Reynolds, director of marketing for Grace Community Center. “The success of this event is contributed to the support from the businesses in our community. We have more than 120 businesses supporting us through sponsorships, gift cards, and silent and live auction items.
“This is our signature event that is crucial in raising money so we can continue to help those in our community who are struggling for the necessities of life,” said Reynolds. “We are grateful for the support we have received to date, but we need more sponsors and golfers to reach our goal.”
The event offers sponsorship levels as minimal as $100. For those just interested in golf, the entry fee is $85 and includes golf, lunch, T-shirt, goody bag and participation in a Hole-in-One contest, If you are interested in being a sponsor or participant, contact Dukes at 470-5564 or e-mail her at gccgolfs@gmail.com or visit GraceGolf.org. Grace Community Center is a hub for the community, providing a path so that its neighbors can live lives of freedom and dignity, officials said. A 56,000- square-foot facility, ministries there greatly impact the Cape Coral and North Fort Myers area. Teams feed the hungry, clothe the needy, heal the sick, and educate the uneducated.
