The Breeze Newspapers, which includes the Cape Coral Breeze, Pine Island Eagle and North Fort Myers Neighbor Living magazine, held its fourth annual Breakfast of Champions Saturday to honor student-athletes and coaches.
Here’s a look at the honorees and attendees feted at the culmination of the Breeze Newspapers’ Athlete of the Week program:
Those recognized at the breakfast held at Vineyard Church include Female Athlete of the Year, Hannah Busenbark; Male Athlete of the Year, Max Brady; Team of the Year, North Fort Myers Softball; Coach of the Year, Martin Cardenas, Mariner High’s Boys soccer coach; Reader’s Choice Athlete of the Year, Gabi Winters.
The guest speaker was Jaylen Watkins, former NFL safety and a Cape Coral High School graduate who went on to earn a Super Bowl ring with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. He coaches football at Cape High.
