Find your best green garb and bring your appetite for corned beef and cabbage to the Shell Factory on Friday, March 17, as it celebrates St. Patrick’s Day.

The popular local destination will give the day the celebration it deserves with its eighth-annual St. Patty’s Day celebration from noon to 8 p.m. in the center parking lot.

You can expect all your Irish favorites such as green beer and an Irish menu (along with their regular menu which will include fish platters for those eating for Lent) that includes shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage, Reubens and much more.

“We think it’s going to be a fun day of celebrating the Irish and a fun-packed eight hours,” said Anne Sheridan, general manager of the Shell Factory. “So many people have asked if we are having it and they are so happy we are.”

There will also be a 50/50 raffle and the team of bagpipers will entertain the crowd at around 1:30 p.m. Chuck Peterson will bring his talents for the rest of the day so people can come to dance.

The St. Patrick’s Day event started in 2015 as a way to bring local people to the historic attraction. It started small, but has grown to one of the biggest events of the tourist season. In 2020, it was probably the last event in Southwest Florida before the state shut everything down, literally just as the celebration ended, Sheridan said.

This year’s event will be the longest to date, as it is on a Friday evening and many don’t have to be at work in the morning.

The next big event at the Shell Factory is the Easter Sunday Funday on April 9.
