The Laboratory Theater of Florida will host its annual fundraiser on Nov. 18, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. This year is special as the theater celebrates the building’s 100th birthday.

Located in the heart of the Fort Myers River District, her doors were opened in 1923 as St. Luke’s Episcopal. Over the past century, and with a variety of owners, the building at 1634 Woodford Ave. has maintained a history of community service, a tradition that The Lab proudly continues.

The Laboratory Theater of Florida’s mission is to provide show-stopping entertainment, thought-provoking performances, and theatrical education that tantalizes, inspires, and empowers the community through theater.

This centennial birthday celebration hopes to bring the community together and increase awareness of our award-winning and diverse performing arts and educational theater options. The evening will feature food, entertainment, and relaxation. Inside the historic venue, the theater will feature skits from past performances, and have lively and fascinating discussions with local historians about the history of this building and her addition to the historic register.

Outside will feature music, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, fun, and a few surprises.

The goal for this fundraiser is to raise $100,000 to be used for the replacement of the air conditioners, repair the parking lot, and begin to rebuild the Lab’s education building that was lost during Hurricane Ian.

Sponsorships are currently available at every level, and every gift truly makes a difference.
