Harry Chapin Food Bank needs boxes!
Harry Chapin Food Bank is issuing an urgent call for boxes following the delivery of large amounts of food all at once from many recent community food drives. Before the donated food can be distributed to local families, it must be sorted and packaged, and the food bank’s supply of boxes has been completely depleted.
“We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Richard LeBer, president and CEO of Harry Chapin Food Bank. “The amount of food donated has been incredible, but we rely on boxes to sort, store, and distribute these items efficiently. We’re asking anyone who can help to consider donating boxes so we can continue getting food to the families who need it most.”
The food bank is requesting heavyweight, new or gently used boxes. The boxes must be able to hold up to 15 pounds and should be in the following sizes:
• 9 to 12 inches tall
• 16 to 20 inches wide
• 19 to 22 inches long
Box donations can be delivered to Harry Chapin Food Bank’s Fort Myers warehouse Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For questions or coordination of larger box donations, please contact the Harry Chapin Food Bank at 239-334-7007.
