Lee County Commission reappoints Cronin and Johnson to Tourist Development Council

The Lee Board of County Commissioners recently reappointed Pamela Cronin and Jay Johnson to the Lee County Tourist Development Council.

Both Cronin and Johnson will serve four-year terms.

“Pamela Cronin and Jay Johnson bring decades of hands-on experience in Lee County’s tourism and hospitality industry,” said Cecil Pendergrass, who chairs the Lee Board of County Commissioners and the TDC. “Their reappointments ensure strong continuity as we continue advancing Lee County as a premier travel destination.”

Cronin and her late husband, Tom, owned the iconic Shell Factory & Nature Park, for 27 years. It closed in 2024, and she currently owns The Shell Factory, a clothing and gift shop, at Southwest Florida International Airport. Cronin was first appointed to the TDC in 1998.

For 30 years, Johnson has been the owner of Bubba’s Roadhouse & Saloon in Cape Coral. He has worked in the hospitality industry his entire career, including 12 years with Sheraton Hotels. Johnson was first appointed to the TDC in 2022.

In 2022, the BoCC voted to add four ex-officio nonvoting seats to allow each of the municipalities a seat on the TDC. These four additional members represent the incorporated municipalities not currently serving on the TDC in one of the two municipal rotating seats.

The TDC was established as an advisory board to the BoCC in 1983 to increase off-season tourism in Lee County. For more about the TDC, visit leevcb.com and leegov.com/bocc.
