LiveLung, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners, invites the Fort Myers lung cancer community to its monthly educational meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 11:30 a.m. The meeting will be held at Hyatt Place Fort Myers at the Forum, 2600 Champion Ring Road, Fort Myers, and includes a complimentary lunch.

This month’s meeting will feature Michelle Milita, MA, LMHC-QS, Regional Supervisor of Bereavement at Chapters Health System, presenting “Healing Hearts Together: Navigating Grief After Loss.” The presentation will explore approaches to processing grief after loss and provide insight into bereavement support for individuals and families impacted by lung cancer.

Milita holds a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from La Salle University and has more than 21 years of experience in the mental health field. In her current role, she oversees a team of bereavement counselors across southern Florida, supporting hospice patients, families, and community members through grief, loss, and end-of-life transitions.

She is a licensed mental health counselor in Florida and holds a Thanatology certification from the Association for Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). Her professional background includes trauma-informed counseling, support group facilitation, grief education, and the coordination of community bereavement programs and memorial services.

LiveLung’s educational meetings provide valuable resources and opportunities for lung cancer patients, survivors, and their care partners to learn, network, and build community. Each meeting features an expert guest speaker who shares insights to empower attendees with knowledge and support.

About LiveLung

LiveLung is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to improve health outcomes by advancing lung cancer education, early detection, and compassion for lung cancer patients. We do this by hosting a network of monthly educational community lung cancer patient groups. We also provide resource bags to dozens of cancer centers, where nurse navigators give them to newly diagnosed lung cancer patients.
