Next month’s roster of activities at North Fort Myers Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
Adult Programs
Core & Restore: Chair Yoga
2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5
Join certified instructor Brenda for beginner chair yoga. Enhance flexibility, strength and balance while reducing stress from the comfort and safety of your seat. Just wear comfortable loose clothing and bring a water bottle. Registration is required.
Resume Creation Workshop with Goodwill
2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7
Join this hands-on, informative workshop presented by Goodwill Community Resource Center. Participants will learn how to develop a professional resume that highlights their skills, experience and accomplishments. Registration is required.
Romance Book Club
5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11
Tell us about titles you love at our Romance Book Club. Bring your latest romance favorites, classic romance tales or your most beloved reads for a relaxing and fun evening of discussion. Drop-ins welcome.
DIY Craft Club: Oil Pastel Tulips
2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13
Join this beginner-friendly DIY class using oil pastels and paint a vase of tulips. This easy, relaxing project lets participants create colorful designs with no prior art experience needed. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required and is guaranteed until the start of the program.
Book Discussion: “A Guardian and a Thief” by Megha Majumdar
2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20
In a near-future Kolkata on the verge of collapse, Ma is days from leaving for America with her young daughter and elderly father when their stolen visas shatter that hope. Step into a moving journey through one of history’s most pivotal moments with the Holocaust Museum and Cohen Education Center’s impactful traveling exhibit. Adapted and condensed from their renowned permanent exhibit, this powerful display brings the Holocaust’s timeline and its lasting impact to life in a compelling and accessible format.
Children’s Programs
Read to Dogs
11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8
Join us at the library and read to dogs. These registered therapy animals volunteer with their owner/handler as a team to help kids practice reading. Participating children can read down their fines or just have fun reading to these furry friends. Bring your own book, find a favorite from the library collection or we can choose one for you.
Game On
4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18
Join us for some gaming fun. Snacks and refreshments provided while supplies last. For ages 11-18 years.
Little Explorers Playdate
11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20
Play, grow and make new friends. An open-play social hour designed for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their caregivers.
STEM Saturday: Shell Science – Observations and Experiments
11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22
Kids will observe, sort and test seashells while exploring how shells form their unique features. This program is appropriate for families with children ages 6-11 years.
