Community Cooperative launches ‘Hunger is Scary’ campaign this October

This October, Community Cooperative is launching its ”Hunger is Scary” campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity in Southwest Florida and collect donations to help feed local families in need.
While Halloween is a time for costumes, candy, and fun, thousands of children and families in our community face the frightening reality of hunger every day. Many households in Southwest Florida struggle with food insecurity, and many parents are forced to make the difficult choice between paying bills or putting food on the table.
“Hunger is one of the scariest challenges our community faces,” said Stefanie Ink Edwards, CEO of Community Cooperative. “As we head into the fall season, this campaign is a reminder that too many of our neighbors are unsure where their next meal will come from — but together, we can change that.”
Community Cooperative is calling on local businesses, schools, and individuals to get involved this October by hosting food drives, donating nonperishable items, or making a financial contribution to support their hunger relief programs. Every contribution helps ensure that no one has to go to bed hungry.
How to Get Involved
• Host a food drive with your workplace, school, or community group.
