Reports of reverberations in Lee County from earthquake off Cuba’s coast
There have you been some reports from Lee County residents that they felt reverberations in their homes from a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that was reported off the coast of Cuba earlier this afternoon.
There were no immediate reports of any damage in the county from the earthquake.
“We felt the shaking. Several residents did as well,” Fort Myers Beach Public Information Officer Abigail Eberhart said. Eberhart said there was “no damage and no reported negative impacts to Fort Myers Beach.”
There were no calls for service on Fort Myers Beach, according to Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District Chief Scott Wirth.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they had no calls for service.
Lee County spokesperson Betsy Clayton said the county’s facilities team “conducted visual inspections, and no damage is reported to county buildings. There were no impacts to county operations.”
