You can’t compare the protests of the ‘60s to the protests of today
To the editor:
The author of “When Will They Ever Learn” I am sure is a very well-meaning and extremely nice person. But here are the problems as I see it involving what is going on with many sanctuary cities.
Historically speaking, none of this would probably be happening if Obama had not been elected, and he had not thrown a hand grenade into race relations. I actually supported him against Hilary. On one hand Obama, deported more than 3 million people and had children in cages with not so much as a whimper from the political left/Democrat party. In fact, during Obama’s presidency, CNN news rode in ICE vehicles reporting on extradition efforts in Chicago and heralding their great work.
Bill Clinton extradited 12.3 million illegal aliens from this country without so much as a whimper from the political left/Democrat party.
If there had been no Obama, there wouldn’t have been a Trump ’45. If our intelligent population had not placed a clueless Joe Biden in office who allowed (by politburo fiat) an all-out invasion of our sovereign borders of millions of undocumented illegal immigrants, there would be no such thing as sanctuary cities and Trump ’47 wouldn’t be.
As of the date of this writing the administration states that they have removed about 10,000 immigrants, including hardened criminals, from Minnesota alone. These criminals were involved in kidnapping, rape, murder, theft, assaults, and sex trafficking, just to name a few things. These are not allegations, but prior convictions. But guess who is standing in the way of police doing their duty to protect the general public.
My simple answer would be people who do not respect the rule of law. That includes mayors and governors. It does become somewhat more complicated, because the Democrat-controlled cities, and their leaders would have you believe that they somehow have sovereignty over policies which are indeed federal.
So, if the regular ordinary people would simply stay out of the way of ICE and not try to impede a lawful removal of criminals, the collateral damage to “so-called innocent” civilians would be markedly minimized. Yes, there would be some citizens who are caught in the same dragnet, but they would find justice and be released. This has happened. ICE’s record of accurately going about its business is actually quite good when compared to many of the other government agencies. They have less than 1% goof ups.
The author also does not seem to recognize that Vietnam was a very divisive war in some people’s minds. The actual invasion of our country by large numbers of people who have come here to suck off the teat of our welfare system to the detriment of American citizens, who that welfare is designed for, is a totally different story.
As a taxpayer, I want my tax money to go for the benefit of my fellow American citizens and not for an undocumented mob. I call to mind when Hurricane Helene ravaged South Carolinians who could not get satisfactory government aid because that aid was shifted to housing illegal aliens in cities across the United States, including New York. I am reminded that Lee County did not get the type of “services” from FEMA when hurricane Ian devastated the area for the same reasons.
But I digress.
Going back to the heart of the matter…. The partner of Ms. Good egged her on to go out and protest. Her partner later lamented that she had told her to do this. What responsible mother goes out to protest when she has a child at home dependent on her? Protest at the ballot box. Don’t put yourself in harm’s way. It has been shown repeatedly that a traffic stop can be a very dangerous situation. You do not say no, whether you have a smile on your face or a frown on your face when an officer stops you.
The ICE agent (with 10 years experience), in question had been dragged by another vehicle several weeks prior to this particular incident. These officers are not only harassed by these so-called righteous demonstrators, they have ice-filled bottles thrown at them, which could easily cause concussions, lethal brain hemorrhages, or other severe facial trauma.
These people that are dragged from their cars are not innocently, protesting. Among them are “paid anarchists” promoting violence. They are impeding officers of the law. In this incident, the officer was struck by the vehicle that this woman was driving, causing, officials reported, internal bleeding. This woman was being ordered out of her car, and she ignored the order. For those of you who don’t understand it, an automobile is a lethal weapon and so is a firearm. I am not trying to defend what he did and I am not trying to defend what she did. I am trying to point out that this whole incident was needless, and has been incited by people who use other people to justify and further their agendas when they don’t or won’t even listen to the counter arguments.
This woman died because of politics, and this policeman/ICE agent has had to move his family into hiding because of trying to do his job/duty of ridding our nation of criminals due to politics.
I happened to have seen a news clip from MSNBC where the news moderator saw that President Trump was getting ready to show the faces of the criminals who had been picked up in Minnesota by ICE and she decided to table/cut the feed right there, and stated that if it was important, she would come back to it. Just another way of censoring information to the public who might still watch that channel.
