Going green is easier than you think
Going green is as easy as turning off lights you aren’t using, adjusting the thermostat, using public transportation, and buying local products. These are some of the easy actions highlighted on Go Green Forever commemorative stamps, the U.S. Postal Service’s featured social awareness stamps for 2011. The stamps are currently on sale and cost $7.04 for the pane of 16 stamps.
USPS is doing its part as the only mailing and shipping company in the world whose packaging, stamped cards, and stamped envelopes must meet standards for human health, environmental health, and recyclability. And so do stamps, including the new Go Green stamps.
Playful but purposeful, the Go Green stamps suggest simple things everyone can o to make our environment healthier. Many of these tips, such as turning out lights when leaving a room, are things you’re probably already doing. Others require a bit more commitment. But no matter what you choose to do, it’s amazing how taking a few small steps can add up to big savings in energy, resources, and costs. These days, Americans are learning that our actions, both individually and collectively, affect the very air we breathe.
USPS could have shown big concepts such as wind power or solar power, but preferred to send the message that each one of us can take small, everyday steps to make our world a greener place. Kid-friendly, environmental messages were developed for the Go Green stamps.
