Next month’s roster of activities at North Fort Myers Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

– Adult Programs

* Books & Bites

10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2

A lively chat about books and a morning snack.

* Cooking for Two for the Holidays

11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16

Chef Warren will share holiday kitchen tips, cooking hints and humorous anecdotes about the joys and challenges of cooking for two. A cooking demonstration of a healthy entre that can be prepared in less than 15 minutes will follow. Sponsored by the Friends of North Fort Myers Public Library. Registration is required.

* Local Author Booktalk: Burning Down the Country House by Carol Williams

2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17

Carol Williams explores the circumstances leading up to the fiery end of a marriage built on deceit, power-plays and ignorance. Carol interjects hilarious anecdotes into this poignant account of a family under duress, as seen through the eyes of her child protagonist, Addie.

* One Book Southwest Florida Book Discussion: The Sunflower by Simon Wiesenthal

2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19

Simon Wiesenthal recounts his experiences with a dying SS soldier who was seeking absolution from a Jew for the crimes he witnessed and committed.

* Storytime

Family Storytime

10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 4, 18

Five simple practices get kids ready to read: Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing and Playing. The whole family is invited to this enjoyable, all-ages storytime that encourages the development of pre-reading skills through songs, rhymes, fingerplays and stories. Parent can model proper storytime behavior by participating and staying in the room during these programs. Registration is required.

* Baby Rhyme Time

11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5

Reading to babies right from birth stimulates their minds, develops language skills and lays a foundation for later reading success. During this special storytime, babies learn new nursery rhymes and fingerplays, interact with puppets, sing, read books and dance! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other parents and babies in the neighborhood. Registration is requested.

* Kids Club: Cornucopia Craft

3:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2

Bring your creativity and help make a horn of plenty for the library bulletin board. For ages 6 and up.

* Kids Read Down Fines

2 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7

Children and teens earn a $2 coupon or credit for every 15 minutes they read in the designated area for a total of $8 in one session. Credit may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only and applies only to charges on overdue materials.

* Musical Discovery Zone

2 – 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14

In the Musical Discovery Zone, kids interact with musicians from the Gulf Coast Symphony and get to play a variety of instruments. Offered in partnership with the Gulf Coast Symphony.

– Teen Programs

* Kids Read Down Fines

2 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7

* Altered Books for Teens

Transform old books into works of art. Materials provided. Middle and high school students welcome.
