Community Connection

Danny Ballard
We will start this month with some sad news. A very close and dear friend passed away three weeks ago. Lenny Laforest (Miami Lenny) was a close friend of Doug Dailey and became a very close friend and supporter of North Fort Myers Civic. We will never forget Lenny as long as The Wiffle Ball Bash continues as he was very instrumental in the design and layout of the fields.
The cool weather has arrived, and I hope all are enjoying. I hope all had a very Happy Thanksgiving and got to enjoy family and friends.
December has been jam packed with events. On Mondays we will be collecting toys and donations at Merchants Crossing car show, we have toy drop boxes scattered all over North Fort Myers. The Santa Sleigh is done. ( Thank you Friga Tyme construction).
All toys will be distributed on Dec. 18 in our two Santa Run parades. The parades will be held in Palmona Park and Island Vista Park. Check the web site for times.
The Civic Association decorated the Cedar Tree in front of the Community Center. Please stop by and see it. The Am Vets decorated the large Cedar Tree at the entrance to the Park.
We had to cancel the Angel Tree as there was a timing issue. We have been able to get a list of names that we might be able to give gifts to.
I will keep this short and in January start giving you all the events scheduled for 2022.
May you have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Enjoy the time with loved ones. Just remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.
Please have a very safe and happy holiday season.
Our January meeting will be held on Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m., at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, 2000 Recreation Way.
Stay safe and healthy.
