Several concrete results from the half-cent sales tax

It is a pleasure to represent the North Fort Myers area as School Board representative for District 4. I am thrilled to continue to have this opportunity to share great news with you about our schools in this area.
I want to take a moment to recognize the continued work of our amazing staff that continues to go the extra mile to provide the best support possible for our students. Despite the continued challenges, our students are thriving and it is in great part to the efforts of our administrators, teachers, and staff. But we can’t do this without the support of our District families. Parents/guardians/grandparents continue to be a crucial partner in the overall success of our students.
Our community also plays a very important role in the success of our schools. One of the ways they continue to do this is through the half-cent sales tax that has funded many schools and projects throughout the district since its passing in November of 2018. Some of the projects completed to date in the North Fort Myers area include:
– Bayshore Elementary
Promethean Boards in every classroom

In addition, we have the following sales tax projects planned for this school year:

– J. Colin English – new flooring
– Hancock Creek – new parking lot lighting
– Littleton – new rain gutters
I also want to take a moment to celebrate the successes of some of our schools in the North Fort Myers area.
North Fort Myers Academy for the Arts was designated as a Florida Arts Model School for 2020-23. The school also had three students recognized as winners in the Fort Myers Lions Club Peace Poster contest, an event designed to promote world peace. Students at the school also recently performed in the 19th production of “The Nutcracker” for the school’s families.
This is the 11th time the students have performed at the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
The North Fort Myers High School Girls Soccer team was recently ranked No. 1 by the News-Press. Very well deserved recognition, as just two weeks ago, the team conquered Mariner Lourdes Academy who was last year’s Class 6A runner up. Students at the school also recently performed their annual children’s show with a production of “Moana Jr.”
Congratulations to all the students and staff on their continued success. Thank you for taking the time to read about our District. Have a blessed 2022.
