The fourth annual North Fort Myers Wiffle Ball Bash is set for April 2. The Clash of the Irons Charity Golf Scramble is scheduled for May 14. Both are fundraisers for the North Civic Association.

The North Fort Myers Civic Association held its annual meeting with a good attendance in February.

Two new board members, Brandi Stephenson, and John Mooney, were elected, and one, Bruce Vanderveen, was retained.

The principal officers were re-elected and stayed the same — President: Danny Ballard, Vice President: Christy Iwanow, Treasurer: Toni Hill, and Secretary: Teri Halm.

Membership, as of the annual meeting, was 57 members.

The membership approved the 2022 line-item budget. It is estimated we will take in roughly $30,000 and spend $24,280 with a carry-over of $6,120.

The Wiffle Ball Bash and the inaugural Clash of the Irons charity golf scramble will make up a large percentage of the income.

The 2022 Wiffle Ball Bash will be on April 2 at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center, with the Opening Ceremony at 8:45 a.m. Games will begin at 9 a.m. Team fee is $100. Teams consist of six players with all batting and three on the field playing defense. There is no running involved and the Bash is open to all 8 to 88 years of age. If you can’t play, please help with a sponsorship and come out and watch the fun and excitement. You won’t be disappointed.

The Clash of the Irons golf tournament will be held on May 14 at Cape Royal Golf Club. Registration will be at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $85 per player or $340 per team. Once again if you can’t play, we could sure use your sponsorship.

More information for both events can be found @ www.NFMCivic.com.

Civic is back hard at work on previous projects such as Business 41, Palmona Park, Paradise Isle, Merchants Crossing, Scholarships, Adopt-A-Teacher, and numerous County Government meetings.

Let me close by saying 2022 looks to be a banner year for your North Fort Myers Civic Association.

The next meeting will be on April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at NFM Recreation Center.

Please come out and join us.

Stay Safe and Healthy
