Community Connection: Clash of the Irons set for Saturday, May 14
Civic held its 2022 Wiffle Ball Bash on April 2 at the North Fort Myers Recreation Center for the fourth year. The numbers look like it might be a banner year for donations.
I am sorry if you missed it.
But you can still help us with the inaugural Clash of the Irons Charity Golf Scramble.
It will be played on Saturday, May 14 at the Cape Royal Golf Club with a Shotgun Start at 8:30 a.m. Registration will begin 7:30 a.m. You may go to our web site NFMCivic.com to register or sponsor. All of the information, including sponsorship info, is included in the online version of this month’s column here at northfortmyersneighbor.com. Please come out and play.
The Events Committee is working hard getting ready for the Bash, painting fields, putting up Sponsor Banners, gathering last-minute items and finalizing the schedule of events. As Wiffle Ball ends, the Events Committee will turns its focus to golf, as we will hold our inaugural Clash of the Irons, mentioned above. We are looking for players and sponsors. If you are interested, please contact us at our website, NFMCivic.com.
The Scholarship Committee is working to get the names of students living in North Fort Myers who might need a scholarship. That deadline is April 22. If you know of a student living North Fort Myers who is graduating and needs help, have them contact Debbie Ballard@debbs74@comcast.net.
NFM Civic also planned an Easter Egg Scramble. On Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16, Board Members dropped eggs in yards across North Fort Myers. One thousand eggs were dropped, each with a NFM Civic logo on the outside for identification. On the inside will be a special raffle ticket and directions. If you find one of these eggs you can go to the NFMCivic.com to see if you have won. A phone number will be there to call if you are a lucky winner and prizes will be available for pick up on Monday, April 18. If you haven’t seen this notice until the Neighbor Living is distributed on the 19th, you may still collect your prize.
The new Board was set to look at and vote on corrections and additions to our By-Laws at the April 12 meeting.
We are also looking at having a Home Town event this year. We wanted to be able to hold this on July 4th, but there were obstacles in the way so we are looking at a Fall Holiday to hold this. More info will be given as this event takes shape.
As you can see we are very busy with all we try to accomplish, and don’t forget, we continue to help with county issues and other issues that affect our NORTH FORT MYERS that we love.
Our next meeting will be on May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at NFM Recreation Center.
Please come out and join us.
Stay safe and healthy
Danny Ballard
President NFMCA
