Greetings of great joy to all readers in and around our North Fort Myers & Lee County neighborhoods.
Our current show, is “Tidal Treasures.” Member Ron Powell of North Fort Myers is our featured artist. He has about 20 of his paintings in oil on display and are for sale…as are the majority of displayed items. Ron has practiced his art creations for over 20 years. Please also look in the display case in the Auditorium Lobby – cards and jewelry on sale. Our Peoples’ Choice Awards winners were: Donna Sillars, first & tied for third place; second place to Ron Powell, and Sunny Lee, tied for third place. Our current exhibit, “Tidal Treasures” is up and I invite you to visit Gulf Coast Village Independent Living Center, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, from 8 a.m. to 8 pm., every day of the week to enjoy the display of over 70 items and maybe meet some of the delightful GCV staff and residents as you meander along the walkways. These items will be removed on Monday, Aug. 17, to prepare for our next exhibit.
Our next exhibit title is “3-Dimensions” with featured artist, member Donna Sillars of Cape Coral. Donna is a talented young lady in a variety of venues. Primarily for this show, she will exhibit several of her 3-D Mosaic pieces for your viewing and purchasing pleasure. Items for exhibit are due in on Monday, Aug. 17th, between 1 – 4 p.m. The reception for this exhibit is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 2 – 3:30 p.m. in the Elevator Lobby of Gulf Coast Village Independent Living Center, 1333 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral. Make note of this on your calendar so we see you during this fun event. Meet the artists and some of the warm-hearted GCV staff and residents. And, join in the fun of voting for your favorite piece before 3 p.m when the Peoples’ Choice Award winners will be announced. Member, Ruth Lugten, our “Hostess with the mostest”, will be greeting you at the Reception Table in the front lobby, where you will be asked to sign-in, get your ID badge, and your Peoples’ Choice Award ballot. Enjoy the show and the camaraderie this afternoon. Food and beverages provided by Gulf Coast Village chef and culinary staff. The items in this exhibit will be removed on Nov. 30, between 1 – 4 p.m.
NEW (AD)VENTURE: As a result of our growth and inclusive benefits, we have joined with Tranquility Lakes, 4316 Boathouse Lane, Cape Coral – off Burnt Store Rd./Veterans’ Parkway & Durden Road, a 25-minute ride from NFM via Diplomat Parkway to offer a new concept for meeting people who are willing to share their wider range of interests in one setting – the inaugural Art, Car & Food show – on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. – noon. The Muscle Cars Group of SWF will be holding its car show in the parking areas of the facility from 9 a.m. until noon; while the Lee County Art Center, Inc./North Fort Myers Arts Association will be offering a variety of art displays, demonstrations and sales opportunities for attendees in the Tranquility Recreation Room where coffee will be provided by Tranquility Enterprises and a variety of food trucks will also be available outside for your quenching your appetite. Come explore this new venue and enjoy this new Sunday activity. Bring your family, friends, neighbors, visitors! We look forward to seeing you there. New Intergenerational committee being formed. We have formed a new community collaboration search committee to provide intergenerational programs to all residents, students and visitors. James Sams, NFM Academy for the Arts, Asst. Principal, and Paula Martinez of the Scientists’ Society of SWF, have joined NFMAA members and GCV staff in this prospective outreach program. We’re looking into possibilities for a variety of fund-raising venues to help us create and develop an annual scholarship program for all art students toward their pursuits of higher education. These fund-raising programs are designed to strengthen community relationships between different age groups for the benefit of all. The focus will be on encouraging students from our area education centers to join our members in joint art displays, present theatre & music presentations, STEM education projects, and other interesting projects and programs @ Gulf Coast Village Independent Living Center’s Auditorium.
