Cape Coral High School has announced its newest inductees into the school’s athletic hall of fame.

The 2027 Cape Coral High School Athletics Hall of Fame class includes Seahawks David Pasquale and Jason Hopf.

Pasquale is a multi-sport legend, while Hopf was a basketball standout.

Both of the inductees will be officially honored during halftime of next Friday’s varsity football game against Imnmokalee High School on Oct. 16.

“David Pasquale and Jason Hopf are deserving of induction into the Cape Coral High School Athletic Hall of Fame because of the lasting impact they made through their outstanding athletic accomplishments and contributions to Cape High,” said Cape Coral High School Athletic Director, Tom Kenna. “Their success, dedication, and representation of our school exemplify the standard of excellence that the hall of fame is intended to recognize and preserve.”

According to officials, The Cape Coral High School Athletics Hall of Fame honors graduates, coaches, and contributors who achieved athletic distinction, demonstrated outstanding character, and left a lasting legacy on the Cape Coral High School community.

“Both David Pasquale and Jason Hopf represent the absolute pinnacle of athletic excellence, leadership, and legacy at Cape Coral High School,” said the selection committee in a release. “We are honored to induct them into the Hall of Fame.”

Pasquale, a 2008 graduate, established himself as one of the top dynamic multi-sport athletes in Seahawk history, earning 11 varsity letters across football, track, and basketball.

As a starting quarterback all four years, Pasquale posted a 17-6 record, threw for 4,072 yards and 45 touchdowns, and set the Cape High record for the longest pass in school history with a 99-yard touchdown in 2007.

Pasquale earned a full scholarship for the University of Toledo, where he appeared in three bowl games, set school records for running back/receiving production, and was named a National Football Foundation Post-Graduate Scholar-Athlete while completing both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Hopf, a 1994 graduate, is described as one of the most prolific playmakers in Cape High basketball history, holding the program records for single-game assists (18), single-season assists (376), and career assists (530).

Hopf was a major player in back-to-back district and conference championship teams in 1993 and 1994, helping the program to a 58-8 record across two seasons.

In 1994, Hopf led the Seahawks to its first-ever No. 1 state ranking in any sport.

He continued his career at Santa Fe Community College, as well as Kennesaw State University, before returning to Cape High where he coached from 1998 to 2001.
