Mariner's Minto advances to quarters in NCAA wrestling tourney
Cape Coral's Christopher Minto, a sophomore at the University of Nebraska, dominated two early-round matches Thursday at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Cleveland, Ohio, as the third seed in the 174-pound weight class. Minto, a Mariner High School grad, defeated Wyoming's Riley Davis, 20-4, via technical fall to open the tournament and then scored an 11-2 major decision over George Mason's Logan Messer in Thursday night's second round. Minto will wrestle Iowa State's MJ Gaitan, the 11th seed with an 18-6 record, in the quarterfinals Friday afternoon.
